WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Kelly Morrison (MN-03) joined the We the People Amendment, which would overturn Citizens United and ensure that elections are decided by people – not corporations.
In 2010, the Supreme Court decided in the Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that corporations were legally allowed to spend unlimited amounts of money to influence political campaigns.
In elections after the Citizens United decision, corporations and dark money PACs have spent hundreds of millions of dollars influencing elections and diluting American democracy. The We the People Amendment would reverse this decision and get big money out of politics.
