Caseworker – Rep. Morrison’s District Office (Plymouth, MN)
The Office of Congresswoman Kelly Morrison is hiring a Caseworker. The caseworker is the front-line advocate for constituents navigating federal agencies. This role requires deep knowledge of agency processes, strong relationship-building with agency contacts, and the judgment to know when a case needs escalation. The Caseworker monitors and updates the Director of Constituent Services and District Director on district and local issues relating to federal agencies.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS REQUIRED:
- Manages an assigned caseload: opens, tracks, and closes cases in the database
- Acts as the constituent’s advocate with federal agencies: makes calls, sends inquiries,
follows up - Keeps constituents regularly informed of case status
- Logs all incoming and outgoing communications for each case
- Prepares weekly report for the Member and office staff
- Prepares periodic reports for the Director of Constituent Services on case status and
district trends - Identifies patterns suggesting a legislative fix and flags to Director of Constituent
Services - Creates and promotes grant and community workshops in assigned geographic areas
- Works well under pressure and handles stress
- Works a flexible schedule including long hours, nights and weekends as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills & Knowledge Required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of legislative process and of House organization and procedures
- Knowledge of local, state and federal agencies and departments
- Familiarity with district issues and constituent concerns
- Professional telephone manner and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work cooperatively, courteously, and with discretion
- Sound judgement in fulfilling casework responsibilities
- Attention to detail and knowledge of office policies and procedures
- Knowledge of office policies, practices, and procedures
- Duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Reports directly to the Director of Constituent Services
- Work is mainly performed in an office-based environment with moderate noise levels
- Workstation without expectation of privacy
- Expected to proactively communicate with supervisor and team to maintain a
collaborative office environment
